WHAT MOTIVATED THE TITLE FOR MY EBOOK? The last couple years of my life, I was constantly told in some way or another, I was just pretty for a black girl. And after hearing it phrased that way, I began to think I wasn’t beautiful on a broad scale, but just for my race. It seriously felt like someone throwing a little shade my way every time it was said. Not to mention being natural before all the support came along. So I decided to use the cover of my book to deal with the issue directly. I no longer feel truth to those words and I would like to share that truth. The funny thing about it, is we even do it within our race “She’s pretty because she’s light skinned, or dark skinned girls look better”. I think it’s time for women to stop looking for reasons we aren’t beautiful and start embracing the beauty we see, especially without throwing shade.
